He was born June 2, 1945, in Portland to Glenn Christian and Elsie Ella (Vogel) Bauman. The family moved to Longview when he was 5 years old. He graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1963, attended Lower Columbia College and graduated from Eastern Washington State College in 1972. Mr. Bauman served in the Air Force as a weatherman until 1970. He worked for Cowlitz PUD, was a purchasing agent at Weyerhaeuser Co. and owned and operated the Woodshed Restaurant until 2001. He most recently owned the Washington Way Market and partnered with his brother, Mike Bauman, in Miller's Market and Omelettes & More. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Merrilee Bauman; two sons, Jeff Bauman and Brad Bauman; two sisters, Jeri Reinke and Jane Cheshire; two brothers, Mike Bauman and John Bauman; and six nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church in Longview. A luncheon will follow at the church.
