He was born Dec. 14, 1916, in Reardan, Wash., to Oliver P. and Elva (Maitlen) Bayne. He graduated from North Central High School in Spokane in 1935 and from Washington State University. Mr. Bayne lived in the Longview-Kelso area for 57 years. He taught industrial arts at Kelso High School and Huntington Junior High School for 33 years. He retired in 1975. On June 9, 1940, he married Saralee Cole in Spokane. She survives him. Also surviving are three sons, William Bayne, John Bayne and Michael Bayne; a brother, Walter Bayne; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Columbia Heights Assembly of God. The viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory.
