She was born in Rainer, Oregon and grew up near Kelso, Washington. She moved to Aberdeen to marry Arthur S. Beck in 1944. They then made Aberdeen their home for 62 years. She owned and operated a fabric store in downtown Aberdeen for a dozen years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, walking on the beach, gardening, antiquing, collecting dolls and making teddy bears. Her handmade teddy bears were instant treasured heirlooms for her family and many lucky friends. She was a founding member of The Ancient Mariners, a group of senior citizens who work as volunteers at the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport. Four children, Steve of Aberdeen, John of San Francisco, Jeanne of Orcas Island and Colleen of Redmond, Washington, survive her. Additionally she is survived by five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her beloved Arthur, and her grandsons Shane and David preceded her in death. A celebration of the lives of both Margaret and Art will be held at the 7th Street Deli & Sweet Shop in Hoquiam, their granddaughter Debbie's establishment, this Saturday, May 13th, from 1:30 - 3:30 PM.
