Lynn Louise Behrendsen, 51, of Woodland, Washington, slipped peacefully into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ at home surrounded by her loving family on the morning of October 21, 2005 following a courageous 18 year battle with cancer. Lynn was born July 7, 1954 in Spokane, Washington, the third child of Howard & Maxine Rodman, and the first twin to arrive, followed 5 minutes later by her twin brother David. The Rodman family moved to Woodland, Washington in 1962, where dad & mom Rodman became administrators of Cardai Hill, at that time a Presbyterian camp and conference center. Lynn graduated from Woodland High School in 1972 as senior speaker. During high school she worked in the bakery of the Oak Tree Restaurant, and then as a hostess there. She attended Whitworth College in Spokane for 2 years, temporarily interrupting pursuit of a degree to marry Woodlandite, Randy Behrendsen, in September 1975. Lynn joined in to help Randy farm, running equipment alongside him. She finished her degree in audiology at Portland State University in 1985 just months before the birth of their son, Tyler. After interning with Kaiser Permanente, Lynn established her own audiology clinic, working together with Dr. Fritz Camp, ENT, in Milwaukee, Oregon. She also continued part-time with Kaiser. In addition to her work as an audiologist, Lynn and her husband established Behrendsen Market in the historic Schurman Building on Lewis River Road in Woodland, offering locally grown fresh fruits & vegetables and crafts & antiques from local artisans. As her illness progressed, Lynn had to retire from audiology, but found great joy in managing the market as long as she was able. She was preceded in death by her father, Howard, and her father-in-law, Clyde. Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Randy Behrendsen; her son Tyler; her mother Maxine Rodman; her mother-in-law Edna Behrendsen; her sister-in-law Janet Boon and her husband Dale Boon all of Woodland; her sister Raeann Anderson and her husband Rick Anderson of London, England; three brothers, Kevin Rodman and his wife Theresa Rodman of Port Angeles, Washington, David Rodman and his wife Cindy Rodman of Silverton, Oregon and Neal Rodman of Woodland; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 29, 2005 at Woodland Christian Church at 430 Buckeye Street with a buffet luncheon following. Internment will be at Highland Cemetery. Gifts in Lynn's memory can be made to: The Behrendsen Family Scholarship Fund through Columbia Bank in Woodland at 782 Goerig Street. Arrangements are by Davies Cremation and Burial Service in Vancouver.
