She was born Aug. 30, 1918, in Cowlitz County to Rosalie Lebo. She graduated from Kelso High School and attended Eastern Washington State College in Pullman for three years. She completed her B.A. degree in English and creative writing at the University of Washington in 1971. Mrs. Berg worked for two years at the Longview Daily News, proofing metal type, soliciting ads and reporting and writing stories. She lived in Oregon for 10 years, helping her first husband manage small-town drugstores. In 1954, she married Roy E. Berg and lived in Seattle and Ketchikan, Alaska. She worked at the University of Washington as assistant to the publisher for student publications. After retiring, she returned to Kelso for 20 years before moving to Marysville in 2001. She is survived by her husband of 52 years; a daughter, Kathleen MacDougall; a stepdaughter, Sandy O'Neill; a stepson, Dale Berg; six grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Solie Funeral Home and Crematory, Everett.
