He was born June 9, 1922, in Brush Prairie, Wash., to Wolford Emil and Lena (Kestie) Berg and attended school in Kalama. He lived in Longview for 36 years before moving to LaPine in 1982. Mr. Berg served in the Seabees during World War II and worked for Weyerhaeuser Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1981. He married Rose Akin on Dec. 22, 1945, in Eureka, Calif. She survives him. Also surviving are a son, Charles Berg; a daughter, Loree Campbell; 10 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. A service was held Feb. 21 at Deschutes Memorial Chapel in Bend. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Washington/Alaska Chapter, 3876 Bridge Way N.
