Elaine (Bones) Anita Brown, 71, passed away Sunday, February 26, 2006 at her home in Castle Rock with her children at her bedside. She was born in Pinewood, Ontario, Canada July 14, 1934. She moved to North Dakota at a young age, eventually settling in Cowlitz County for most of her life. Elaine retired from General Telephone Company in Everett, Washington, after many years of service, moving back to the local area to be closer to family. She was known for her sense of humor and kindness. During her recent illness the words most used to describe her were, "Special Lady". She was preceded in death by her parents; Lauren (Pat) Ramsdell and Irene Gaudette Ramsdell Kowalchuk; brother James Ramsdell; granddaughter Tiffany Bays in 1994, and most recently, her sister Laura (Patti) Smith, February 17, 2006. Her significant other, Donald Reedy, also preceded her in death. Elaine loved being at home, watching television, cooking, sewing and spending time with family and friends. In recent years she was a member of the "Write your life story" class for seniors. She found much joy in writing her many stories and meeting all her wonderful new friends. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy. Few Christmas seasons passed that Grandma didn't arrive dressed in a Santa suit and her car filled with gifts. Elaine is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Randy White of Castle Rock; son Kelly Hanes of Eugene, Oregon; granddaughter and husband Sara and John Remmers of Castle Rock; grandson and fiancé Jesse Hadley and Jolene Gould of Lacey, Washington; great-granddaughters Taylor Fadden and Isabella Remmers of Castle Rock. She is also survived by five brothers; Gerald Ramsdell of Brookings, Oregon; Wayne Ramsdell of Cleveland, Ohio; Lorene Robert (Junior) Ramsdell of Castle Rock; Leonard Ramsdell of Longview; and Floyd Ramsdell, also of Castle Rock. There are six surviving sisters; Maxine Ramsdell of Chateauguay, Quebec, Canada; Alta Lambert of Federal Way, Washington; Annetta Mattson of Longview; Elinor Ramsdell, unknown residence; Jean Ramsdell of Toppenish, Washington; and Kathryn Ramsdell, residence unknown. She will also be greatly missed by many dear friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Hubbard Funeral Home in Castle Rock at 11:00 am. A potluck luncheon will follow at The Rose Tree Restaurant in Castle Rock.
