She was born November 9, 1934 in Grand Junction, Colorado to Lester V. and Dorothy C. (Garrison) Black. She moved to Longview on July 1, 1945 from Portland, Oregon. She attended Longview Public Schools and graduated from R.A. Long High School in June 1952.On June 6, 1952 she married Vern Burch in Long Beach, California. Naomi worked as a customer service representative at the Longview Fibre Company for 15 years, retiring in 1985. After her retirement she enjoyed serving as the dinner hostess at Campus Towers Retirement Home which she did for several years. She belonged to the Assembly of Rainbow for girls, later she and her husband, Vern joined the grange where they were members for over 25 years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was a very active member of Northlake Baptist Church. Naomi enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, tatting and reading. She thoroughly loved traveling, meeting people, and photography with her husband Vern. Naomi was a very compassionate person. Wherever she went she always had a smile and a positive, upbeat attitude. She came from a very musical family, continuing to sing up until she became sick with cancer. Survivors include her husband, Vern Burch of Longview; daughter, Esther Walters of Longview; three sons, Rod Burch of Longview, Mel Burch of Naselle and Vince Burch of Beaverton, Oregon; two brothers, Neil Black of N. Hollywood, California and Shelton Black of R.V. U.S.A.; sister, Jeane (Kroll) Greaver of Lacey, Washington; two grandsons, Joshua Burch and Scott Walters; three granddaughters, Heleera (Walters) Burton, Crissy Walters and Crystal Burch; great grandson, Travis Burch; great granddaughter, Kylie Burch; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester & Dorothy Black of Longview. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2005 at Northlake Baptist Church with Pastors Mark Schmutz & Frank Morrison officiating along with Dr. Jim Conrod. Private Internment will be held at a later date.
