He was born Dec. 15, 1926, to Harry Ross and Pauline (Rude) Ross. He moved to Longview from Montana in 1954, then moved to Whidbey Island in 1985. Mr. Caldwell served in the Navy for two years, joining in 1944. He graduated from the University of Montana in 1950 with a bachelor of arts degree. He worked for Boeing in Renton for two years and then in 1954 became personnel manager at Reynolds Metals in Longivew. He retired from Reynolds in 1985. He and Muriel Bowers were married in Missoula, Mont. She died in 1994. Survivors include two daughters, Corinne Cline and Vicky Loren; two sons, Ron Caldwell and Randy Caldwell; and eight grandchildren. A memorial will be held at 11 a.m. March 25 at the Coupeville United Methodist Church. A reception will follow at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Coupeville United Methodist Church, 608 S. Main St, Coupeville, WA 98239. Cremation and burial arrangements are by Burly's Funeral Chapel of Oak Harbor, Wash.
