He was surrounded by his family in Randle, Washington and passed on after a long battle with lung cancer. Dick was born March 18, 1935 in Winston, Oregon to John and Lillian (Hooper) Cook. After being raised on Little Kalama River Road, he moved to Longview as a young man in the early 60's. Dick married Mardella Conard in 1961 and had four children. In 1982, Dick married Charlotte A. Burns, which survives him at home. Dick leaves behind two daughters and one son, Sherry and son-in-law David Heiserman of Kelso, Washington; Shelly McLean of Longview; and Craig and daughter-in-law Amber Cook of St. Helens, Oregon. Also left behind are two step-daughters, Judy Jackson of Skamania, Washington and Renae Orr of Portland, Oregon. His grandchildren include Jeremy, Jennifer and Ashley McLean of Longview, Nichole Laffon of Vancouver, Washington; Jade, Kylie, Alexis and Aidan Cook of St. Helens, Oregon; Daniel Lucas of Priest River, Idaho; Trista Wolf of Naples, Florida; Sarah Heiserman of Gig Harbor, Washington; and Courtney, Tiara and Kyra Orr of Portland, Oregon. Dick is also survived by three brothers and a sister, Doris James of Battle Ground, Washington; Melvin Cook of Battle Ground, Washington; Jerry Cook of Woodland, Washington; Bill Cook of La Center, Washington and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Frances Davis and Evelyn Pumphrey; brothers, Bud, Cliff and Vern Cook; daughter, Judy Marie Cook and son, Richard Blain Cook, Jr. Dick retired from International Paper where he worked for about 30 years. His hobbies included the outdoors, mostly hunting, fishing, camping, traveling to Reno and working in his garden. He was a member of the International Woodworkers of America and The North American Hunting Club. Please join us for Dick's service on March 18, 2006 at 2:30 p.m. at the Cascade Northwest Funeral Chapel, 1939 Mt. Brynion Road, Kelso, Washington with a potluck to follow at a location to be announced. Viewing will be Thursday and Friday from 12-7.
