He was born in Brownwood, Texas, February 26, 1932 to James M. Cooper, Sr. and Rosa (Pridemore) Cooper. He came to Longview in the early 1940's and spent the last 50 years on his beloved homestead in Castle Rock. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Georgia Roseanne Cooper; and his first wife, Gloria (Niemi) Cooper. He is survived by his dear wife, Galina Cooper; a daughter, Sarah Lehman Keiser of Kerrville, Texas; a son, James M. Cooper III of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida; an aunt, Alma Lee Scranton; a brother, Bob Cooper of Elkhart, Texas; a sister, Sybil Hedrick of May, Texas; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. Mr. Cooper graduated from the University of Washington and was employed as Director of Goodwill Industries in Longview for 26 years. He loved good food, reading, traveling the U.S. and the world, football, gardening, and music, especially the blues. Family and friends will miss his ready wit, abundant wisdom, and frequent stories told in his West Texas drawl. Viewing will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2005 from 2-5 p.m. at Columbia Funeral Service. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2005 at Columbia Funeral Service with Matthew Dixon officiating.
