He was born January 13, 1932 in Swain, Arkansas, the son of Lee C. Durham and Pearl Mae Fry. Ronald was a resident of Clatskanie, Oregon for 15 years and a resident of Coos Bay, Oregon for 16 years. Ron Durham began working for Menasha Corporation in North Bend, Oregon after graduating from the University of Washington's School of Forest Engineering in 1960. He worked with Menasha until 1976 and had a long distinguished career with Longview Fibre Corporation for 28 years until his retirement in 2002. Ron also had a passion for music and played cello for the Southwest Washington Symphony. Ron could also play the piano and violin. Ron played and volunteered many hours to the Senior Citizens Center. Ron loved to read and had a keen interest in history. As a young man, Ron went off to join the US Navy and served four years. He fought in the Korean War and was stationed aboard the U.S. Philippine Sea. Survivors include three sons, Ronald L. Durham Jr. of Coolin, Idaho, Forrest L. Durham and Gregory S. Durham, both of Coos Bay; daughter, Tracy Ann Clingings and her husband, Tony Clingings of Coos Bay; granddaughters, Cassandra Benner and her husband, Ronald Benner, Nicole Crowson, and Kayla Durham; grandson, Tyler Clingings, great grandson, Brandon Benner, brother, Hershel Durham, three sisters, Glenna Van Boxtel, Jimmie Durham and Carol Bolster. A traditional service will be held Monday, November 14, 2005, at 2:00 p.m.at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home, 301 Cowlitz Way, Kelso, Washington. Viewing is November 14, 2005 from 10:00p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Southwest Washington Symphony. Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
