He was born in International Falls, Minn., on Jan. 16, 1950, to Gifferd and Vergie (Houser) Ellsworth. Ellsworth volunteered for the military and earned numerous honors. He flew hundreds of missions over Vietnam as a door gunner. He also was involved in many medical evacuation missions and survived a crash in enemy territory. Ellsworth met and married Sheila Richards of Libby, Mont., and the couple moved to the area. Their home was destroyed by the Mount St. Helens eruption. The family moved to Big Fork, Mont., and the couple divorced in 1984. Ellsworth spent the last 20 years of his life in Longview, where he worked as a millwright. He was an avid outdoorsman. He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Evelyn Seeley of Medford, Ore., and Tammie Rochefort of Vancouver; four daughters, Jenny Spencer of Portland, Stacey Messersmith of Phoenix, Crystal Ellsworth of Hyattville, Wyo., and Laura Ellsworth of Palm Springs, Calif.; and five grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O.
