 Harry Dean Fairchild 

Dean left this world on Friday, June 9, 2006 at the age of 78. Dean was born on 
February 10, 1928 in Magnolia, IA, to Charles and Goldie Fairchild. Dean was 
raised in Ft. Peck, MT. Dean served his country in the US Navy during WWII 
aboard the USS Alaska. When Dean was discharged in August of 1946, he moved to 
Bonners Ferry, ID and was married in June of 1949 to Edna Shaller. 

In 1950, Dean and his wife, Edna, moved to Longview, WA where he joined the 
Operating Engineers' Union Local 701, where he worked for 41 years. He raised 
three children and has four grandchildren. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, coin 
collecting, gardening, rock collecting, and garage sales. Dean was a hard 
working, easy going man with a great sense of humor. He was a family man and 
his family was the most important thing to him. Dean was active in the 
community, volunteering with the Elks, Boy Scouts of America, and Community 
House. He also volunteered his time in the creation of the 7th Avenue and John 
Null parks. 

Dean is preceded in death by his wife, Edna; brothers, Ed and Floyd; and 
sisters, Martha and Jenny. He is survived by his brothers, Roy and Chuck; 
sister, Edna May; his children, Tim, Steve and Jill; and grandchildren, Joe, 
Amber, Katie and Julia. 

Services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Green Hills 
Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Hospice Care 
Center, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. Arrangements are under the direction 
of Green Hills Crematory-Cemetery.
