He was born May 18, 1943 in Bellingham, Washington to George William Ford and Mary Catherine (Deter) Ford of Sumas, Washington. He enjoyed working much of his life in the Timber Industry and owning several other businesses through his lifetime. He worked and owned Cedar Shake Mills in several locations in the State of Washington, the last location being in Newport. While living in Newport, he enjoyed spending his extra time outdoors running a ranch with a variety of animals. He was an avid hunter, outdoorsman, and outgoing person always making friends wherever he traveled. He was a hard worker and was always setting new goals and following his dreams for success. George's last years were spent enjoying driving across the United States in his RV researching his family history in North Dakota and exploring small towns along the way. Above all, he was a great father, teaching common sense values and independence to his three surviving children: Sheri-Lee Quince of Newport, Washington, Patricia Ann Ford of Stanwood, Washington, and George W. Ford III of Longview, Washington. George had 3 brothers and 2 sisters, deceased are Richard Ford, and two half brothers Kenneth and Robert Hartwig. Surviving sisters are Darlene Feist and Shirley Groen. He has nine Grandchildren and one Great-Grandson. George will be remembered most for making long lasting positive impressions and bringing smiles to everyone he met throughout his lifetime.The family would like to thank the Longview Community Home Health and Hospice, as his remaining days were spent with comfort, care, dignity, and love. A memorial service will be held at Sumas Washington Advent Christian Church, at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2006. Inurnment will be at Sumas Cemetery.
