He was born Sept. 12, 1922, in Payette, Idaho, to Amos and Lola Gardner. His mother died when he was 12 years old, and he moved to Yakima to be adopted by Vern and Nellie Holt. He graduated from a Yakima high school. Mr. Gardner served in the Idaho Air National Guard during the Korean War. He worked for Idaho Power from 1947 to 1985, first as a draftsman and eventually as manager of records and drafting. He moved to Ocean Park in 1989. He married Myrlene Tolle on Jan. 23, 1990. She survives him. Also surviving are two sons, Steve Gardner and David Gardner; a stepson, Vern Holt; a stepdaughter, Janis Griffin; a brother, Gene Gardner; a sister, Helen High; many grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends has been held. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Payette.
