He was born in Geneva County, Alabama to Hugy and Sudy Garner on August 6, 1929. Orville was in the Navy from 1947 until 1950 where he was a tail gunner on an aircraft carrier. He was a disabled veteran. He moved to the Kelso-Longview area in 1952 from North Dakota. Orville was a welder in the Machine Shop at Weyerhaeuser from 1952 until 1998 when he retired. He married Joyce Green in Longview on April 13, 1959 by Reverend Whitaker after his first wife passed away in 1957. He was an opinionated, funny, stubborn, loving husband, dad and grandpa. He loved animals and enjoyed fly fishing, golfing and hunting. He and Joyce liked to travel with all the kids and, after the kids were grown, just the two of them. They especially enjoyed the lake cabin in Idaho. He was also a mall walker at Three Rivers Mall. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Garner, at home; son, George and Karen Garner of LaCenter, WA; daughters, Cheryl and Jim Lucas of Kalama, Pam and Randy Sims of Longview, Julie Smith of Cathlamet, Terry and Jeff Basford of Longview; brother, Hugy Garner Jr. of Cairo, Georgia; sister Myrtice Eldridge of Palm City, Florida; and 7 Granddaughters, 1 Grandson, 5 Great Grandchildren, and numerous Nieces and Nephews. He was preceded by his brother, Ray and Vester Garner. Memorial Donations can be made to the American Heart Association and Kidney Foundation. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2006 from 3-6; A Funeral service will be on Monday, April 17, 2006 at llam, at Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home Dahl-McVicker Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
