Paul was born to John & Minnie Gilleland in Wyoming on August 23, 1930. The family moved to Castle Rock when Paul was 8 years old. Paul graduated from Castle Rock High in 1949. He was a member of the National Guard during the Korean War. He soon married Marilyn C. Root. Together they lived and raised their family in Kelso, WA. Paul enjoyed being a former president of the Pacific International Trapshooting Association for several years. He owned and operated Cowlitz Marina in Kelso from 1959 to 1979. Paul and Marilyn were happily married until Marilyn passed away in July of 1996. Paul then lived with his friend and companion Evelyn Payne until it was time to leave this world. He is survived by his two children, Steve Gilleland of Castle Rock, WA and Laurie Rutland of Gig Harbor, WA, four grandchildren, Ryan Rutland, Nate Rutland, Curt Rutland and Rachelle Rutland, his brother Dick Gilleland of Yuma, AZ and sister Victoria Gilleland-Gochanour of Lake Forest Park, WA. At Paul's request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers please make your donations in his memory to the Longview Community Home Health Care Center, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
