John Wayne Gipson, passed away December 7, 2005 at the Hospice Care Center at the age of 61, after a long and courageous battle with Congestive Heart Failure and Emphysema. John was born June 30, 1944 in Yakima and was the 9th of 11 children born to Mary (Fisher) and Claude Gipson. John and his family moved to Longview in 1984. John was a truck driver by trade but was forced to retire very early due to his illnesses. John was an avid Seahawks and NASCAR fan with his favorite driver being Jeff Gordon, but nothing brought more joy to John than his family. One of the greatest loves in his life were his two grandsons, Zack and Derek. John is survived at home by his wife of 36 years, Susie and their beloved Yorkie Lhasa Apso mix, Callie aka "Daddy's Pretty Puppy"; a son, Gary Gipson of Longview; a daughter and caregiver, Nikki (Gipson) and Shaun Lockhart of Castle Rock; two grandsons, Zack and Derek Lockhart of Castle Rock; two brothers, Myrle & Virgina Gipson of Castle Rock and Lee & Janice Gipson of Yakima; four sisters, Marie & Fred Richards of Longview, Ruth & Glen Newell of Maple Valley, Darlene & Ron Boutwell of Yakima and Sherry & Mark Commett of Yakima; and hundreds of loving nieces & nephews. John is also survived by a very special family friend, Susan McNutt. Sue without your love and support over the past few years we could have not made it through, we love you. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Billy Gipson, Vernon Gipson, and Ronnie Gipson; and a sister, Clara Baker. John's family would like to thank Dr. James Crider and all of his staff for all of you loving years of care and support. We would also like to thank the staff of the Cardiac floor at St. John Medical Center for all of your love and support over the past few years and Mary Parker in the Anti-coagulation Clinic for all of her love and support. Our heartfelt thanks also goes out to all of the staff at Hospice, but especially dads nurse, Elizabeth Davis and his social worker, Linda Erickson. "Lizzybeth" we could not have made it through this without your love and support. You are far more than Dad's nurse, you are part of our family and we love you. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 11, 2005 at Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park, 5050 Mt. Solo Rd., Longview. Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to Community Home Health & Hospice, PO Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. Dad, your battle was long and very painful, but you were very courageous. We are so proud that you had the courage to fight as long as you did. We love you and miss you more than words can say.
