He was born January 13, 1924 in Little Rock, Arkansas to James Harve and Bessie (Saul) Godwin. He served during WWII in the Army Air Corp. On April 5, 1947 he married Hortensia Boltares in Tucson, Arizona. She preceded him in death on March 12, 1993. He was a grapple-yarder operator for Weyerhaeuser for 32 years retiring in 1988. He was an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Castle Rock, acting as President of the parish committee in 1973, Eucharistic Minister, and 3rd Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. He found peace loving his family, fishing, gardening, and frequent trips with his wife and family to the Oregon Coast, especially Rockaway Beach. He enjoyed baking pies, making cornbread and canning vegetables from his beautiful garden. Survivors included sons, Jonathan Godwin and Bennett Godwin; daughters, Rachel Godwin, Flavia Godwin, and Kathleen Evans, and brother Harvey Godwin of McKinleyville, California. He had five grandchildren; Troy Wood, Joni Hubbard, Sara Nichols, Levi Godwin and Enid Godwin. He also had 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, brothers; Adam Merle, Delbert and Claude; and sisters Vera, Mary Lee, Ruthie, and Jewell.
