She was born April 30, 1922, in Cotter, Ark., to Claude and Eunice (Risley) Whittaker and graduated from Castle Rock High School in 1940. Mrs. Harper served as a clerk in the Marine Corps Women's Reserve during World War II. She lived in Vancouver and Seattle before settling in Edmonds. She worked for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and retired from the Department of Social and Health Services. She is survived by three children, W. Lee Harper, Marilyn Bazan and Claudia Edin; four granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren. At her request, no service will be held. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bleitz Funeral Home, Seattle.
