He was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Antlers, Okla., to Benjamin and Martha (James) Harrison. He graduated from high school in California and moved to the local area from Los Angeles 37 years ago. Mr. Harrison served in the Army during World War II, stationed in Guam. He was a structural repair carpenter and owned and operated Harrison's Remodeling until retiring in the mid-1980s. He married Nellie R. Calkins on Feb. 27, 1971, in Kelso. She survives him. Also surviving are three sons, Richard Harrison, Billy Harrison and Tim Harrison; a daughter, Darla Duran; a stepdaughter, Beverly Ogden; a stepson, Daniel Paulson; three sisters, Billie Jean Dobbins, Doll Huitt and Anna Cook; a brother, Victor Harrison; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Kelso First Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
