She was born January 1, 1936 in Kyoto, Japan to Takamasa and Yasue Tanaka. She graduated from high school in Japan and attended many courses at community colleges in Hawaii and Longview. She married Ray Hegr on March 11, 1969 in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has lived in the local area for 32 years. Mrs. Hegr was a "Life Member" of the Kelso-Longview Elks Ladies Auxiliary, a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor, a "Charter Member" of Lower Columbia Fleet Reserve Association Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Longview American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Soka Gakkai International. Mrs. Hegr enjoyed floral arranging and grew her own roses. She loved cooking and trying many international recipes. She was very talented in art, oil, water color and calligraphy. She always had a nice smile, laughed a lot and enjoyed jokes. She loved people and was always willing to help others. She very much enjoyed luncheons with her friends. She was the most perfect wife a husband could want, just a beautiful person inside and out. She is survived by her husband Ray Hegr at home in Longview; 2 brothers, Yashikado Tanaka of Osaka, Japan, and Jun Tanaka of Shizjoka, Japan and 2 sisters, Michiko Edamura of Osaka, Japan and Yukiyo Yamashita of Kobe, Japan. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Nachiko Tanaka. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 31, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the Kelso-Longview Elks Lodge. Memorial Contributions may be made to Elks Crippled Children Therapy Program. Private Inurnment at Longview Memorial Park.
