Ruth L. Holland, 77, of Cathlamet died March 23, 2006. 

She was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Yankton, S.D., to Peter and Marie (Brochmueller) 
Smith. She moved to the local area in 1940 and graduated from Wahkiakum High 
School in 1946. 

Mrs. Holland was a county government secretary. 

She married Marvin Holland on June 28, 1947. He survives her. Also surviving 
are a daughter, Linda Toste; a son, Larry Holland; a brother, Tom Smith; a 
sister, Florence Marcus; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. 

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Dowling Chapel. The viewing 
will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral 
home. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cathlamet First Aid Division, P.O. 
Box 142, Cathlamet, WA 98612.
