In Memory ofPete Jansen 1941-2005 

Pete was born in Star, Idaho February 4, 1941. The family moved to Kalama, 
Washington in 1946. He graduated from Kalama High School in 1959. He later 
graduated from Central Washington College in 1974 as a Broad Area Science 
Major. He moved to California and taught Biology, Genetics, Algebra, Physics 
and Ecology to junior and senior high school students. Due to ill health he 
retired in 1995. He still was able to hunt some and just enjoy the outdoors 
with his faithful dog, Katie. He married Edie Wilson, his loving wife and 
caregiver in 1977. They moved to Kalama in 1999. 

Edie survives him at home. He leaves four children, Mike, Greg, Gail and Terry; 
five grandchildren and four great grandchildren and his dog, Katie. Pete is 
also survived by five devoted sisters and their spouses; Martha and Harry 
Becker, Shirley & Ken Dickey, Mary & Bob Jordan, Jacquie & Jack Wicker and 
Charlene & Bill Cox; two brothers, Karl & Florence Jansen and Bob & Dotty 
Jansen; sister-in-law, Joan Bailey and brother-in-law, Don & Marlene Wilson. He 
had many nieces and nephews who helped care for him in his failing health. He 
leaves many childhood friends who fondly remember his constant smile and ever-
present dog.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Zoe Prock Jansen; and 
brother, Jack.
