Johnson, 87, died on Sunday, April 23 in the Grand Village Nursing Home, Grand Rapids, MN. She was born on December 18, 1918 in Salkum WA, the daughter of Bill and Clara Jones. Marion was widowed in 1972 and raised her 4 sons in Longview, WA. She ran a beauty shop in her home until her marriage to Walter Johnson in 1984. They made their home in the Balsam area, frequently flying back to Washington to visit family. Marion was a valued member of the Balsam Senior Citizen's Club, a former member of the Second Wind Harmonica Band, and a member of the Balsam Bible Chapel. Marion was an artist, her hands were always busy. Her talents in painting, carving, tatting, and all needle arts were well known. Paintings and carvings done by Marion are displayed in the homes of her family. Marion was an avid gardener, her flower beds were her pride and joy. Marion and Walter shared a love of music, traveling with the Second Wind Harmonica Band. On a summer's day, family often found them listening to music (or doing a smooth waltz) in the porch of their cabin on Lake Thirty. Survivors include her husband, Walter O. Johnson, a sister; Kathryn Curl, sons; Jim Bohnen of Longview, WA, Joe (Carolyn) Bohnen of Everett, WA, a daughter-in- law, Irene (Bob) Bohnen, four grandchildren; Rachel Bohnen, Michelle Bohnen, Dan Bohnen and Tara Swan, one great-granddaughter, three step-daughter's, Wanda (John) Neumiller, Coleen (Mark) Lofgren and Toni (Phil) Hansen, four step- grandchildren; Taylor (Krista) Bunes, Eric (Heather) Bunes, Troy and Cory Hansen. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Tony Bohnen and two sons; Bill and Bob Bohnen. Memorials preferred to Itasca County Hospice. Visitation will be from 10:00 until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Friday, April 28, 2006 in the Balsam Bible Chapel. Interment will be in the Bigfork Cemetery.
