He was born July 6, 1916, in Clatskanie to Jacob and Tyyne (Paatolo) Jolma. He graduated from Clatskanie High School in 1934 and Polytechnic College of Engineering in Oakland, Calif, in 1937. Mr. Jolma was a commercial fisherman in the Clatskanie area and Alaska for 31 years. He was also a logger and a bulldozer owner/operator and owned Jolma Marine Service for 25 years. He married Marie Manninen on July 30, 1937 in Vancouver. She survives him. Also surviving are two sons, John Jolma and Tom Jolma; a brother, Kenneth Jolma; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Haakinson-Groulx Mortuary Chapel in Clatskanie. Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clatskanie Volunteer Firefighters Department, P.O. Box 807, Clatskanie, OR 97016 or Clatskanie Senior Citizens Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 383, Clatskanie, OR 97016.
