Charles Monroe King (Chuck) passed away at home on May 25, 2006 at the age of 
92. 

Chuck was born in Lebam, Washington on May 19, 1914 to Lee M. and Rosa King. 
His family moved to Longview in 1923 where his father was employed as a 
carpenter for Long Bell. 

He graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1932. Chuck was employed as an 
electrician by Long Bell, Joe Krivanick Electric, and the Cowlitz P.U.D. where 
he retired as Superintendent of Operations in 1976. 

Chuck met Teresa Sells at License Park during her senior sneak day in 1934. 
Their marriage in 1936 lasted for 67 years. They have two sons, Roy King and 
Bob King. 

Among the many things he enjoyed were reading and writing poetry, waterskiing 
at Silver Lake with friends and family, square dancing, entertaining with his 
wife Teresa and working in his shop where he earned the reputation of being 
able to fix almost anything. He was always ready to engineer, construct or fix 
things in his own home or in countless homes in the Longview/Kelso area. 

He was a past member of the Longview Yacht Club, Longview Elks Club and a 
current member of the Masonic Lodge. He once served as Commodore of the Yacht 
Club and was an honorary Past Master of the Masons. 

Chuck was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa and a sister, Emma Sheridan. He 
is survived by his sons, Roy E. King (Carol) of Longview, Bob King of Belfair, 
Washington; brothers, Jack King and George King of Kelso, and Bill King of 
Astoria; and a sister, Rosella Beckwith of Montana. Grandchildren include Wayne 
King of Longview, Stephen King of Tacoma, Anne Helmich of Colorado, and DeAnne 
Beattie of Kennewick, Washington. He also had 7 great grandchildren. 

A Memorial Service will be held in the main sanctuary of the Longview Community 
Church on Saturday, June 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. Reception will follow. Memorial 
contributions may be made to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are under 
the direction of Columbia Funeral Service.
