John M. Larson, 88, of Longview died Jan. 17, 2006.

He was born Oct. 29, 1917, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and moved to the local area in 
1940.

Mr. Larson served in the Army during World War II and earned a bachelor of 
science degree in forestry from Iowa State University. He retired from forestry 
in 1980.

On Feb. 21, 1941, he married Avis L. Gilleland.  She survives him.  Also 
surviving are a daughter, Jackie Larson; and three brothers, Dave Larson, Donn 
Larson and Frederick Larson.

At his request, no service will be held.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. 
Box 2067, Longview, WA  98632 or the Humane Society of Cowlitz County, 909 
Columbia Blvd, Longview, WA   98632.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Columbia Funeral Service.
