He was born April 30, 1932 in Portland, OR to Otis R. and Dorothy M (Kruse) Truitt. Mr. Lewis moved to Longview in 1942. He graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1951, Western Washington University in 1961 with a Bachelor's Degree and from the University of Oregon in 1964 with a Masters Degree. He married Roberta Rapp on April 25, 1952 in Longview. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 during the Korean War. Mr. Lewis was an Educator for the Longview School District from 1961 to retirement in 1988. He also coached R.A. Long High School Baseball, Football & Wresting for many years. He was a loving family man and friend. He enjoyed his friends, family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He had a great big generous heart and a fun sense of humor. He enjoyed travel, golf, time at the Hoods Canal, boating, fishing and private piloting of an airplane. He was a member of Calvary Community Church, BPOE #1482, American Legion, National Education Association and Washington Education Association. He is survived by his wife, Roberta Lewis at home; son, Jerry Lewis of Longview; daughters, Linda Peeples of Yuma, AZ and Connie Anderson of Longview; brother, Frank E. Lewis of Kalama; sisters, Marilyn Silsbee of Portland and Grace Moore of Poulsbo, WA; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 8 nieces and 8 nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held, 2:00 pm, Friday, February 17, 2006 at Calvary Community Church. Dr. Howard King and Reverend Galen Conrad, Officiating.
