His wife of 52 years, Jeanne, and his five children were at his side. Born on October 8, 1915 to Frank McCaskey and Vergie (Pritchard) McCaskey, Roy was one of ten McCaskey children raised in Rainier. Arletha Barnett and Tom McCaskey of Rainier, Twana Alford of Redondo Beach, CA, and Ben McCaskey of Yreka, CA are the surviving siblings. Roy graduated from elementary school in 1929 and from Rainier Union High in 1933, and moved to California in 1945 after serving in the U.S. Army in Honolulu during WWII. His mother and father came to Rainier at the turn of the 20th century where his mother taught school in the early 1900's. Frank McCaskey was a carpenter who built several homes in Rainier including the family home on "C" Street near West Street, built in 1905. Roy married Edith Jeanne (Adams) Wilson on January 31, 1954. He is survived by Jeanne and his children: Dean McCaskey, Susan Benavidez, Donna Benson, Ronnie Paul and Woody Wilson; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Roy retired after 27 years with General Motors in 1980, and was an active member of the Redondo Beach, CA Fraternal Order of Eagles for 60 years. He will be remembered for his love of the Rainier area and growing up along the Columbia River. He remained interested in rivers and bridges and savored wild salmon all his life. An inveterate fixer, he loved to tackle anything needing repaired. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed every day. A "wake" will be held for Roy on June 17, 2006 at his Torrance home. Roy was cremated and his ashes will be distributed over several outdoor areas he loved. Donations should be made to the Cancer Fund of the local Fraternal Order of Eagles. Arrangements are under the direction of The Neptune Society, San Pedro, California.
