A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 10, 2005, New Horizons Church, 405 N. l9th Avenue, Kelso, WA for Jospehine (Joyce) Myers who was born on July 24, 1927, in Belt, Montana, to Joseph Sim, Sr. and Margaret (Atkinson) Sim. The family moved to Longview in l935 where Joyce attended Longview schools and graduated in l944 from R. A. Long High School. After graduation Joyce moved to Washington D. C. and worked for the United States Treasury Department. After World War II she returned to Longview and married Charles Marshall Myers, Jr., on November 30, 1946, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They had just celebrated 59 years of marriage.Joyce worked for Long Bell, K.O. Harwood Insurance and was employed for 22 years as the secretary to the Nursing Department at Lower Columbia College, retiring in l989.Joyce and Marshall moved to Castle Rock, Washington in l989. Family was very important to Joyce and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren and attended all of their sporting and school events. She also loved working in her yard in the spring and summer and had many beautiful flowers. Survivors include her husband, Marshall; daughters, Gail, Portland, OR; Cathy (Stan) Dahl, Castle Rock, WA; sons, Bruce (Diane), Longview, WA; Barry (Phoebe), Castle Rock, WA. Grandchildren, Janna, Jill, Katy (B.J.), Jonathan, Jeffery, Lucas, Nathan, Travis, Traci, McKenzie, and great grandchildren, Tyler, Taite and Kennedy. She is also survived by her sister Betty (Robert) Kinnaman, and brother-in-law Norman (Dot) Myers, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Marjorie Sim Wooley and twin brother Joseph Sim, Jr. Remembrances to the Joyce Myers Nursing Scholarship in care of Lower Columbia College Foundation, 1600 Maple, Longview, WA 98632.
