Neeley of Toledo, loving mother and grandmother, deeply loved by all who knew her, was taken home by our Heavenly Father on April 20, 2006. DeAlva had been a Lewis County resident since 1946. She was born DeAlva Mae Grimes on September 15, 1924 in Zephyr, Texas to Luther and Ellen (Stokes) Grimes. She graduated from Zephyr High School in Zephyr, Texas. DeAlva and Ralph Aaron Neeley Jr. were married on June 26, 1946 in Brownwood, Texas and moved to Packwood, WA. She was a homemaker and devoted mother of three children. DeAlva loved gardening, her flowers, sewing, antiques, and was the best cook. DeAlva and Agnes Neeley cooked and baked the best mouth watering breads, pies, and foods. DeAlva worked for a short period at Enger's Grocery Store and the Short Stop in Toledo, WA. She invested her life in the raising of her three children. After her divorce in 1983, she continued her love and energy as a devoted and loving grandmother. She loved her family and they were her first priority along with her faith and belief in her Lord and savior, Jesus. DeAlva was a longtime member of the Toledo First Baptist Church. All family and friends who came to visit had to have a cup of tea and cookies, as she was always a gracious host and lady. She was kind, polite, soft spoken, tender hearted, and always had an unconditional love for her family and friends. All those that knew her loved her. DeAlva is survived by her sons, Paul (Fawn) Neeley of Toledo, WA (former daughter-in-law Bonnie Neeley of Toledo, WA), John (Debbie) Neeley of Longview, WA (former daughter-in-law Becky Edwards of Chehalis, WA), and daughter, Mary (Kevin) Grindrod of Chehalis, WA. Delve is also survived by her only nephew, Marcus Grimes of Brownwood, Texas, her 12 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. A very special thank you to Terry & Preslyn Hendrickson ("Golden Years AFH", Centralia, WA) for the outstanding love, care and family atmosphere you provided for our mother. There aren't enough words to express our gratitude and enormous thanks. Also, thank you to Ashley Meadows of Napavine, WA and a special thanks to Jaime and Katie for all the love they gave to "DeeDee". A service was held on April 26th at Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Toledo, WA. The service was officiated by pastor Joe Martin of Toledo First Baptist Church. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation, Providence Sound Home Care and Hospice or Toledo First Baptist Church.
