Inez Freida Nelson, 87, of Kelso, passed away March 1, 2006, at an adult care 
facility in Longview. 

She was born May 12, 1918, in Leola, South Dakota, to Ernest & Maria Leberman, 
and moved here from Leola in 1953. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, 
was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed cooking for large family gatherings, 
and with her late husband, Melvin, enjoyed their motor home travels to Alaska, 
Canada, and throughout the lower 48. Melvin and their daughter, Kathleen Johns 
preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded by her two sisters and six 
brothers. 

Survivors include her son, Rod Nelson of Longview; nephew Alfred Young of 
Scappoose, Oregon; grandchildren Jason Nelson and Jeff Quiett, both of 
Longview, and Kristine & Corey Fitzpatrick of Kalama. 

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace 
Lutheran Church with Pastor Barry Stueve officiating. Concluding service and 
interment will follow at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions 
may be offered to Grace Lutheran Church, 2725 Dover, Longview 98632. Friends 
may pay their respects Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday from 8 a.m. 
until noon at Columbia Funeral Service.
