He was born on January 24, 1941 in Ellensburg, WA to Wayne & Clara Maw (Nappier) Newton. He lived in Cowlitz County for 46 years. Don graduated from RA Long High School in 1958.In 1989 Don married Jania Kerr Newton in Kelso, WA. As the shipping supervisor at Reynolds where he worked for 30 years, he would always get to work hours before starting time and get everything done before others arrived. This allowed the day for him and his co-workers to run smoothly. Don was enlisted in the US Navy from 1958-1963 as a Radio Operator during Vietnam. He was on the USS Kearsarge: the ship that picked up Astronaut Neil Armstrong. Don was a very loving, caring honest man. Who always gave 110% of himself at what ever he set out to accomplish. Don was survived by wife, Janice Newton of Kelso, WA; son, Ken Knee of Longview, WA; daughter, Victoria Reese of Sammamish, WA; brother, Bill Foster of Sponkane, WA. He also had 3 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son, Greg Knee; a sister, Betty and his mother. He enjoyed working in the yard, wood working, football, reading, travel, loved cars~detailing cars, fishing, and gaming.At home Don enjoyed keeping the cars detailed at all times. Planting colorful flowers in the spring and making the landscaping beautiful and serene. He enjoyed wood crafting gifts for friends. He enjoyed cooking and entertaining. Whether Don was in Washington or Arizona he was a loyal Elks member, where he held a 30 year membership. He looked forward to each of their events. Don loved to travel and would make friends everywhere he went. Don was a caring and loving husband. He was a genuine man with a sincere love and concern for the health, and welfare of his family and friends.Don was a wonderful friend and husband we will truly miss him. A Celebration of Life will be on Friday, February 10, 2006 at the Kelso- Longview Elks Lodge.
