Darrell "Duke" Dwight Nixon, 77, of Longview died April 19, 2006 at St. John 
Medical Center. 

He was born October 14, 1928 in Woodland, Washington to Wilby and Minnie 
(Eliason) Nixon. Mr. Nixon lived in Kalama for 62 years and in Longview the 
last 5 years. He graduated from Kalama High School in 1947. He married Julia 
Tunzi on September 6, 1952 in Kalama at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mr. Nixon 
was in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked for Pope and Talbot in 
Kalama for 32 years and for Reynolds Aluminum for 13 years, retiring in 1990. 
Mr. Nixon enjoyed fishing on the Columbia River and at Lake Sacajawea. He liked 
to walk and loved to garden and do yard work. He restored Model A's, 3 of them 
from scratch. He was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Longview-Kelso 
Eagles, the Moose Lodge and Disabled American Veterans.

 Survivors are his wife, Julia Nixon at home; 3 brothers, Harold Nixon of Coos 
Bay, Oregon and Arnold and Willis Nixon, both of Kalama; a sister, Ruth Hallin 
of Grants Pass, Oregon and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Norton. 

A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at 11:00 am at St. Rose 
Catholic Church. Father Tim Ilgen officiating. 

A Cryptside committal will be held at Longview Memorial Park. Viewing will be 
Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Steele Chapel from 10-5 pm. 

Memorial donations may be made to St. Rose Memorial Fund, 2571 Nichols Blvd., 
Longview, WA 98632.
