J. Stepp steppmom5@hotmail.com April 9, 2006, 5:07 pm Published in The Daily News on 11/9/2005. Dot Parsons, 73, of Kelso died November 5, 2005 at St. John Medical Center. She was born in Halstead, Kansas on February 18, 1932 to Clell and Goldie Brundage. She married George Parsons on June 18, 1949. Dot loved life with her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a fantastic cook and loved to put on large family dinners. Numerous family and friends have enjoyed Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and 4th of July dinners at her house. She had lived in the same house on the hill for 42 years. Dot was a homemaker, who lovingly cared for so many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren over the years. She loved to tell jokes to family and friends. It was always more fun to hear her tell the joke than the joke itself. She would pause to catch her breath, giggling hysterically, before delivering the punch line. Dot loved to bowl and was a member of several bowling teams in Kelso and Longview over the years. Dot was also a long time member of the Kelso Eagles. She was known on her CB handle as "Polka Dot". Dot also enjoyed playing Bingo and watching baseball games. Dot is survived by her husband of 56 years, George Parsons; son Rocky Parsons; daughter, Vickie Fritz; and Jim Smith, who was like a son all of Kelso. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Thomson of Whidbey Island, Washington; and five grandchildren, Tom Parsons, Bill Fransciscus, Ken Parsons, Candy Heston all of Kelso and Zack Fritz of Seaside, Oregon. Additionally, Dot was survived by 10 great-grandchildren, Beau Heston, Kenny Parsons, Tyler Parsons, Nick Heston, Chalena Heston, Matt Heston, Connor Parsons, Rachel Parsons all of Kelso, Macen Fritz and Gracie Fritz of Seaside. She is and will always be loved greatly by her numerous nieces and nephews. Dot was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters all from Forest Grove, Oregon, Hazel Hanankratz and Hope Konopski and her brother Jim Brundage of Lynnwood, California. In lieu of flowers please donate to any reputable Hurricane Katrina fund in her name. She has a memory garden in the front of the house with roses and greenery for people who wish to donate. Services will be held at 2:00 pm this Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Dahl-McVicker's Funeral Home at 301 Cowlitz Way in Kelso. There will also be a potluck immediately following the service held at Rose Valley Friends Church.
