She was born on October 19, 1913 to Andrew and Josephine (Krejei) Zwiefelhofer in Bloomer, Wisconsin, the 7th of 10 children. She attended school in Bloomer, Wisconsin. At the age of 16 she moved to Menomonie, Wisconsin where she worked at the Menomonie Hospital as a Nursing Assistant for four years. She married Herbert Pecha on October 17, 1933. They had four children, Leon, Dennis, Ronald, and Herbert. Amanda and her husband, Herb managed and owned several farms in Chippewa Falls and Bloomer, Wisconsin. In 1950, the family purchased a small farm in Winlock, Washington, where Amanda's parents and other family members lived. Amanda was a stay-at-home mom who kept very busy tending her garden, canning, baking and running her "egg" and "milk" business. In 1960, the family moved to Escondido, California where they had purchased a distributorship from Silver Springs Water Company. In 1962, they sold the distributorship and moved back to Winlock. After the death of her husband, in 1963, Amanda went to work at Shakertown, in Winlock, where she would work for the next 17 years. She obtained her drivers license at the age of 50 and she had a stellar driving record until she stopped driving at the age of 86. She retired from Shakertown in 1980. In January of 2000, Amanda moved to the Colonial Residence, in Centralia, Washington, after suffering a stroke. She lived there until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Pecha, her son Dennis Pecha, her brothers, Alfred Zwiefelhofer, Leonard Zwiefelhofer, and Herbert Zwiefelhofer and sisters, Angeline Ouimet, Irene Allermane, and Violet Jobest. She is survived by her sons, Leon Pecha of Spooner, Wisconsin, Ronald Pecha of Centralia, Washington and Herbert Pecha of Longview, Washington; a brother Walter Zwiefelhofer of Winlock, her sisters Alvera Graham of Longview, Washington and Elfrieda Anderl of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Amanda has 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at the Cattermole Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 2:00 p.m. at Winlock Sacred Heart Church, 216 NW Arden Avenue, Winlock, Washington. A luncheon will be served in the reception hall following the services. Burial will take place in Bloomer, Wisconsin. All arrangements are being handled by Cattermole Funeral Home.
