He was born January 31, 1952 to Ferdinand E. and Priscilla O. (Bate) Peetz in Longview, WA. He was a lifetime resident of Castle Rock, Washington. John went to work for Weyerhaeuser after graduating from Castle Rock High School. Years later he returned to school to become a counselor for chemical dependency and domestic violence. In 1984 he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and over time, it was apparent that he had the most severe form. It may have slowed him down but he never let it stop him. He felt great compassion for his clients and they in return treated him with the utmost respect. John loved to fish and was very proud of his family and home. His disease progressed and he had to spend the last three years in a care facility. His mind remained clear and he continued to listen and sooth suffering if he could. He will be remembered and missed by many. Survivors include wife, Carol Peetz; stepchildren, Mark Root, Lisa Root McGowan, and Jamie Abercrombie; brothers, George Peetz and Carl Peetz; sisters, Karen Pruett and Ada Tugaw and six grandchildren. John requested that no formal services be held. Memorial donations may be made to Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632. Arrangements are under the direction of Hubbard Funeral Home.
