The couple moved to Longview, Washington where Wally was controller for Weyerhaeuser Lumber Products until his retirement. The couple lived in Northern Arizona before settling into retirement in Mesa, Arizona in 1970. The couple was at Venture Out Resort in Mesa for many years where Kay was a champion shuffleboard player, avid card player and billiards player. Kay was always quick to brew a worm cup of coffee and share a story with her many many friends. She will be sadly missed by many friends and family as she brought joy to many people and was always quick to quip a one line joke or carry on small talk with a friend. She lived a very full life to the ripe old age of 94 years young. Kay was preceded in death by her loving husband, W.F. "Wally" Pettersen in 1988. They were happily married for over 53 years and had three children whom all survive their mother. They are John "Swede" Pettersen of Mesa, Arizona, Mary (Baxter) Brown of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho and Phyllis ( Floyd) Fortuin of Oakland, California. Kay is also survived and will be missed by nine grandchildren: Kirk Nelson (Lisa), Jai Nelson, Kol Nelson, Eric Petterson (Andrea), Chris Pettersen, Seth Pettersen, Floyd Fortuin II (China), Brian Fortuin (Janine) and Kathy von Haunalter (Andrew). 7 Great grandchildren: Shad Nelson, Chass Nelson, Emmet Fortuin, Anders Fortuin, Madison Ford, Isaac Fortuin, and Floyd Fortuin III. Kay Pettersen has found the ultimate peace in her passing. Although she will be missed, her relatives and friends will always remember her strong convictions, loyalty, and faithfulness to her loving husband and her family. A woman of great faith in God, Kay always looked forward to the day when she could finally rest in the arms of the Lord and spend eternity in absolute peace. A Celebration of Kay's Life will be held Thursday, June 15, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Curry Retirement Estates, Curry Crossing in Twin Falls, Idaho.
