Petty passed away peacefully in her sleep at 90 yrs of age at Flagstone Retirement, The Dalles, Oregon on Dec. 26, 2005. She was born in Yakima, Washington to Herbert H & Anna C. Gatchell on Sept 16, 1915. In 1932 she married Herman C. Petty in Yakima and moved to Oakville, WA in 1935. They had 4 boys & 1 girl. They lived from there to Concrete, WA to Cougar & Yale, to Woodland, WA. Following his livelihood as a logger. They lived for 2 yrs in Eureka & Garberville, California area. Ruth was a homemaker and an avid Bible student. She is survived by 3 sons Shanon H & Wanda Petty of LaCenter, WA; Sherman J & Glenda Petty of Adairsville, GA; Delmar H & Marie Petty of Lacy, WA; 1 daughter, Tamara & Don Handy of Wishram, WA; 2 foster sons Roy Smith in Germany, Walter & Sarah Smith of Cape Canaveral, FL. sister Pauline M. Murphy of Fullerton, CA. brother & sister-in-law, Clifford C & Charlotte Gatchell of Port Orchard, WA. 11 Grandchildren, 25 Great Grandchildren, 6 Nephews & Nieces, and 10 Great nephews and nieces. Preceding her in death was her husband, Herman C. Petty; son, Terrence T. Petty; brother, Emory J. Gatchell; grandson, Travis R. Handy. A memorial service will be held on January 21st at 2 p.m. for Ruth A. Petty by Gary Shelton. It will be at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2500 W. 8th St., The Dalles, OR.
