He grew up and lived in Canton, North Carolina before moving to the Northwest in May of 1958. Here he met and married Janet Edwards in February of 1959. From 1959 to 1961 he was in the Army stationed in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Upon his discharge in 1961, he brought his growing family to Toledo and here he made his home. Paul, in his younger years, enjoyed fishing and hunting but as he got older, so did his toys. He bought and restored a 1927 McCormik Deering tractor and enjoyed going to the tractor pulls with the John Deere Gang. When that activity slowed, he joined the Cowlitz Valley A's and enjoyed the company of all the Model A enthusiasts. You would see his Yellow and Black Hotel Taxi with the cheap fare of 5 cents puttering around town or out on one of the club excursions down the country back roads. He loved the attention. Paul was preceded in death by his mother and father, five sisters; Mable Ingle, Cora Caywood, Dora Harris, Jessie Carver and Ruth Overbey; five brothers, James, Claude, Clyde, Thurman and George; and grandson, Kelly Pruett. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Janet (Edwards) Pruett at home; one sister, Gladys Phillips of Canton, NC; three daughters, Jane Jarvis (Mark) of Toledo, Doris Long (Jeff) of Ephrata, and Anita Pruett of Toledo; two sons, Thurman Pruett (Christy) of Longview and Jeffrey Pruett (Kristi) of Napavine; and ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at New Life Assembly in Toledo on Friday, April 28, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. under the direction of McVickers Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel in Toledo. Memorial Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 557 Roy St., Lower Level, Seattle, WA 98109. Viewing will be Wednesday 3-8 and Thursday 9-5 at Fir Lawn Funeral Chapel.
