He was born June 6, 1920, in Boone County, Neb., to Olaf and Marie (Leadholm) Qualset and moved to the local area in 1937. Mr. Qualset served in the Navy during World War II and drove a log truck for Weyerhaeuser Co., for 33 years. He retired in 1984. He is survived by 11 grandchildren, including Angie Olsen, Shawna Krall, Desiree Gourde, Ann Herman and Jesse Herman; and 14 great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Cowlitz View Memorial Gardens. Friends may pay their respects from noon to 5 p.m. Friday at Columbia Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
