Jerry F. Rankin, 89, of Longview, Washington died March 20, 2006 at the Hospice 
Care Center. 

He was born May 7, 1916 in Pleasant Hill, Oregon to James M. and Pearl L. 
(Donnelly) Rankin. He had three brothers that preceded him in death - Harold, 
Gene, and Howard. 

Jerry moved to Longview, Washington in 1935 and was employed by the 
Weyerhaeuser Timber Company for 43 years. His first job there was in the 
locomotive department repairing the log trains. He then transferred to the 
Millwright Division. Jerry married Genevieve V. Hopper on June 15, 1941 and 
were happily married for 64 years. They had two children – Patrick R. Rankin, 
retired Longview City Policeman and Pamela R. Rankin Emmett of San Antonio, 
Texas. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jenny; son Pat and wife Sally; and daughter, Pam 
and husband Frank. There are seven grandchildren; Stacey N. Woodward of 
Corvallis, OR and husband Chris, Patrick R. Rankin, Jr. of Corvallis, OR, Erin 
K. Hurd and husband Joseph of Luling, TX, John Phillip Martin and wife Sherry, 
Brian J. Martin, Shon A. Martin and wife Bonnie all of Longview, WA, Marion D. 
Martin, III and wife Dember of Castle Rock, WA. There are also five great 
grandchildren; Stella Woodward, Baily and Keely Schaub, Eric Martin, and 
McKenna Martin and two nieces, Carole Benson of Shelton, WA and JoAnn 
Ofsteadahl of Gladstone, OR.

 Cremation has taken place under the direction of Columbia Funeral Service.
