He was born Sept. 25, 1918, in Rochester, N.Y., to John and Helen (Lipinski) Richie and graduated from high school there. He moved to Longview in 1944. Mr. Richie served in the Army during World War II in Africa, Italy and the European Theater. He was a salesman for an electrical company. He married Emaline "Peggy" Richie Jan. 21, 1943. She preceded him in death May 10, 1990. Mr. Richie is survived by a son, John Richie Jr.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Monticello Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
