He was born September 14, 1928 in Longview, the son of Allen Lawson & Emma Lenora Risley. On December 26, 1948, he married Darlene J. King in Cathlamet. She survives him at home. He is also survived by son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Cora Risley of Kalama; two sons, Jerry Risley and Larry Risley both of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, Belinda & Michael Rasmussen of Longview; grandson and wife, Darin & Debbie Risley of Kalama; granddaughter and husband, Danyell & Raymond Peterson of Kalama; granddaughter and husband, Dana & Eric Tucker of Longview; granddaughter and husband, Jammie & Jason Murley of Longview; five grandsons, Larry Risley, Jr. of Klickatat, Washington, Kenny Risley of Hood River, Washington, Taylor Risley of Longview, Brandon Rasmussen of Seattle, Washington and Rob Rasmussen of Bellingham, Washington;five granddaughters, Bethany Rogers of Kenai, Alaska, Tia Risley, Sarah Jahas, Rachel Rasmussen all of Longview, and Starla Risley. Roger was preceded in death by his first granddaughter, Candy Ann and his parents. He was a lifelong local resident, spending winters in Arizona for the 16 years following his retirement. Roger attended Sabin School for Boys in Portland. He worked for Longview Switching Co. as a switchman and retired in 1979 as a yardmaster. He was a member of Northlake Baptist Church. Roger enjoyed building model boats and seeing to the details on them, running boats for fun, and waterskiing. Roger was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He loved boating and being on the river. It was a great joy for him to teach his children to run his boats. He also loved traveling and going out to eat. A Celebration of Lifewill be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Northlake Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Smutz officiating.
