Shirley Louise Roseman died at home on March 14, 2006 held lovingly by her husband Ed, sons Steve and Jerry, and Grandson Wayne Roseman. Shirley was born January 14, 1926 to Harry and Anna (Shortlidge) Carns in Toledo, WA. Shirley grew up in the Chehalis and Napavine areas and graduated from Napavine High School in 1944. In 1945 she met and married Edward David Roseman, who survives Shirley at home in Longview. Ed and Shirley lived in the San Diego area until Ed finished his tour of duty in the U.S. Navy during WWII. They settled in the Longview area to live and raise their family. Shirley is survived by her sons, Steve Roseman and his wife Connie, and Jerry Roseman and his wife Debbie, both of Longview. She is survived by grandson Wayne Roseman and his wife Shawna, grandson Kyle Roseman and granddaughter Shauna Roseman. Wayne and his wife Shawna are the parents of Shirley and Ed's three great grandchildren, Miranda, Mariah, and Anthony Roseman. Preceding Shirley in death were granddaughter Jennifer Roseman and daughter-in-law Janice Roseman. Shirley is survived by three sisters, Lorene Murray, Janet Siemers, and Barbara Boucher; and two brothers, Robert Carns and Richard Carns. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ed and Shirley had lived in the Longview area for over 50 years, and along with raising her family, spent her working career as a switchboard operator. She worked for the telephone company, as well as St. John Hospital, and retired from the Port of Longview in the late 1980s. Shirley was a very meticulous person and it showed in everything she did. She always had the most perfectly wrapped gifts under the Christmas tree and her entire family loved to tease her about being a stickler for detail. She was truly a wonderful sport as well; she let us get away with it. Ed and Shirley enjoyed their cabin at Silver Lake and spent weekends there for many years. They hosted family and friends for lots of weekends of fun and fabulous food. Shirley was an excellent cook and no one ever left their home or cabin hungry! They also enjoyed making trips to the Oregon Coast in the Lincoln City area and regular trips to Reno, Nevada. Most of all, Shirley loved her family and time spent with them. We all knew and felt her love in everything she did. She never forgot anyone on birthdays and special holidays. All the kids growing up looked forward to their little surprise treats they knew they would get from Shirley. She included the neighborhood kids, too! No one was ever forgotten. She was a loving and giving person; we all thought of Shirley as the "Hub" of our family wheel. Our lives will never be the same without you. We love you, Shirley, and we will see you in Heaven one day. A private service will be held at Columbia Funeral Service. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Home Health and Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.
