He was born March 29, 1937, in Cody, Wyo, to Ruth A. and Charles H. Shannon. He grew up in Chehalis and graduated from W.F. West High School there in 1956. Mr. Shannon served in the Navy and was in the military police while stationed in Japan. He worked for Boeing in Renton and Weyerhaeuser in Longview. After completing a master's of education from Central Washington University, he taught in Puget Sound area schools, retiring in 1993. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sue Shannon; a son, Scott Shannon; a brother, Dick Shannon; three sisters, Mary Barker, {at Hardy and Sonja Hamilton; an uncle, cousin, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11 am Monday at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Lacy. A memorial service will then be held at 1 pm Monday at the First Baptist Church of Olympia.
