Alice Emily Smith, 59, of Toledo died Dec. 29, 2005.

She was born Nov. 29, 1946, in Portland, to Clyde W. and Nellie E. (VanZile) 
Dewitz Sr.  She graduated from Washington High School in Portland in 1965.  She 
lived in Toledo for 35 years.

Mrs. Smith was manager of the Short Stop Grocery in Toledo.

She married Dale F. "Snuffy" Smith on May 7, 1966, in Portland.  He preceded 
her in death in 1990.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her mother; her special friend of 14 years, Mike 
Williams; two daughters, Tammy Kent and Robin Brooks; two sons, Dwayne Smith 
and Tim Smith; two stepsons, Kai Williams and Chad Williams; two brothers, Bill 
Dewitz and Clyde Dewitz Jr; two daughters-in-law/caregivers, Amy Smith and 
Tracey Smith; 17 grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. 

A private family gathering has taken place.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1, 
Longview, WA  98632.

Arrangements are by Funeral Alternatives of Washington, Tumwater, Wash.
