Carl came to Longview after working on his parents' farm in Minnesota. He met & fell love with Maxine Staggs, daughter of the late Henry and Anna Staggs of Tipton, Oklahoma. They recently celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary and have two daughters, Barbara Weitz of Vancouver and Terri Andrews of Longview. They are blessed with 2 grand children, 4 great grand children and 3 great, great grand children. Carl served in WWII in 1965. He first worked for the Carpenters Union, building the Plywood plant at Weyerhauser, he began to work at Fibre in 1955 as a store clerk, worked there for 25 years while building eight custom homes for clients in the Longview/Kelso area. Leisure time he spent at the Elks playing golf and became Exalted Ruler in 1982-83. Carl and Maxine loved to dance and also spent many years traveling after retirement in 1980. Carl was a good man who lived his life in integrity and was a long time member at the First Baptist Church of Longview and in his last years of life he loved building bird houses in the woodshed, giving most of them away to Friends and Relatives. Carl was a devoted husband and Father, a hard worker, usually holding down 2 jobs at a time. He was a good man and will be greatly missed.
